TO OFFICIALLY welcome the cohort of 22 fellows to the Mindanao Bridging Leaders Program (MBLP), the Asian Institute of Management (AIM)-TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Leadership hosted a dinner reception at the AIM Conference Center on July 11, 2011.
The overall objective of the MBLP is to build a cadre of Bridging Leaders in Muslim Mindanao who can effectively address issues like education, health, land conflicts, poverty, and poor governance, among others, towards peace and development. In 15 intensive months, the fellows will work on a real-life and existing program, addressing a specific societal issue, with well-defined goals to pursue. The program will provide the fellows with access to resource providers and opportunities to engage and build partners and support for the program. Through formal workshops, practicum in between workshops, and mentoring by experienced development practitioners (in the fields the fellows have chosen), the program is designed to deepen and enhance the fellows’ personal and professional competence to meet leadership goals as a prerequisite for achieving social outcomes as desired.
Leading the Institute in welcoming the fellows were President Edilberto de Jesús and TeaM Energy Center executive director Nieves Confesor (right photo: leftmost, standing), as well asWorld Bank Country Director Mark Woodward (left photo) and TeaM Energy Foundationtrustee Ma. Teresa Lopez. Also present at the event were the Center’s academic institutional partners for the MBLP, current partners, researchers, and staff. The fellows were joined by coaches and fellows from previous cohorts, officially marking their entry into the program and the Center’s network.
The MBLP runs until April 2013 through the assistance of the World Bank under the State- and Peace-Building Fund coordinated through the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
